Professional-quality imported Japanese saws.
I started using these saws about 15 years ago and now rarely
use a western saw. I've reduced my use of power saws because
the Z-saw is just easier to use for smaller jobs. The thin
blade with its narrower kerf means you remove less wood. The
pull stroke makes a straighter easier cut. Z-saw is light,
easily portable and there's no power cord. The teeth have
been hardened to the point that they're harder than a saw
file, so they can't be re-sharpened. However, I save dull
blades for cuts that will encounter nails or re-cut dull blades
with tin snips for special applications. See replacement instructions
here
For cutting light stock found on wood/canvas canoes and strippers
use the 21 TPI 7-SM and 10TPI #265 saws.
For general day to day shop work I use the 14 TPI #265 and
the 10 TPI #333 saws
Also now available is a 12 TPI # #8-SM rip saw.
(TPI = teeth per inch)
